IMC Global Round
Terms and Conditions & Code of Conduct
The International Math Challenge (IMC) Global Round is an exceptional and prestigious event that gathers top-performing students from across the globe. This platform offers not only a competitive edge but also the opportunity for cultural exchange, fostering friendships, and celebrating mathematical brilliance. To ensure smooth operations, fairness, and a memorable experience for everyone, the following Terms and Conditions apply to all participants, parents, and supervisors.
Eligibility
- Qualification: The Global Round is open to the top 45% of participants from the IMC Online Round. Eligible participants include those who earned Gold, Silver, or Bronze certificates during the Online Round.
- Verification: Participants must confirm their eligibility by filling out the application form correctly and completing the Global Round registration within the stated deadlines. Incorrect or incomplete submissions may lead to disqualification. Late registrations will not be entertained, and registration is subject to seat availability.
Exam Format
- Language Options: To cater to our diverse participants, exam papers are available in five languages: English, Thai, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish.
- Paper-Based Exam:
- Participants will receive printed question booklets and answer sheets. All responses must be written directly on these materials.
- The exam includes 15 multiple-choice questions and 5 open-ended problem-solving questions, tailored to the participant’s category and age group.
- The exam duration is strictly 90 minutes.
- Submission Guidelines:
- Upon completion, participants must submit their question booklets and answer sheets to designated supervisors.
- Submission time will be recorded and may serve as a tiebreaker for ranking in cases of tied scores.
- All exam materials are the property of IMC and must not be taken out of the examination room.
- Pencils and erasers will be provided to participants. Personal stationery is not allowed.
- Participants must write their name, surname, and IMC ID clearly on the question booklet and answer sheet. The IMC evaluation team will not take responsibility for locating or correcting incorrectly entered details.
- Submission Process:
- Upon finishing, participants must approach the designated exam supervisor to submit their booklet and answer sheet.
- Submission time is critical and may act as a tiebreaker in case of tied scores.
- If multiple students are ready to submit simultaneously, they must queue in an orderly manner based on their finishing time.
- Scoring Rules:
- Each correct answer is awarded 1 point.
- For every three incorrect answers, 1 point is deducted.
- Skipped questions do not affect the score.
- Rankings are based on net scores and submission time.
Awarding
- Medals:
- Top 15%: Gold Medals
- Top 16%-30%: Silver Medals
- Top 31%-60%: Bronze Medals
- Certificates:
- Participants scoring at least 3 net points will receive an Honorable Mention certificate.
- All participants will receive a Global Round Participation Certificate.
- Special Awards:
- The top three students in each category will receive exclusive gifts during the Awards Ceremony.
- Awards Ceremony:
- The Awards Ceremony is a highlight of the Global Round and will feature cultural performances, recognition of top achievers, and a celebratory atmosphere.
Event Packages
- Tailored Packages: IMC offers various packages designed to accommodate the needs of international and local participants, ensuring affordability and accessibility.
- Registration Deadline: Participants must register for the Global Round by the announced deadline. Late registrations are subject to seat availability and additional charges.

Code of Conduct
The IMC Global Round Code of Conduct aims to ensure a respectful, secure, and enriching experience for all attendees. Compliance with this code is mandatory for participants, supervisors, parents, and visitors.
1. Supervision Requirements
- Participants Under 12 Years Old:
- All participants aged under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian throughout the event, including all excursions, and the Awards Ceremony.
- Parents or guardians are solely responsible for their child’s well-being, safety, and adherence to the code of conduct.
- Participants Aged 12 and Above:
- Students aged 12 and older must be supervised by their assigned school or team supervisors. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that students adhere to all event guidelines and remain within designated areas.
2. Arrival and Orientation
- All participants and supervisors are required to attend the orientation session held upon arrival at the event venue.
- The orientation will provide important details, including event schedules, safety protocols, venue maps, and instructions for moving within designated areas.
3. Airport Transfers
- Shuttle Buses:
- IMC provides shuttle buses for airport transfers to and from event accommodations. Participants and supervisors are advised to arrive promptly at the designated pick-up points.
- Responsibility Disclaimer:
- IMC is not liable for any personal items that are lost or damaged during airport transfers, events, or excursions.
4. Event Conduct
- Participants must behave respectfully towards peers, supervisors, and staff members at all times.
- Disruptive actions, unsafe behavior, or any form of disrespect will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification or removal from the event.
- Participants are expected to maintain cleanliness and treat event spaces, accommodations, and excursion sites responsibly.
5. Exam Rules
- Participants must follow all exam instructions provided by supervisors and invigilators.
- Electronic devices, including phones, calculators, or unauthorized tools, are strictly prohibited during the exam.
- Any attempt to cheat or disrupt the exam will result in immediate disqualification.
6. Health and Safety Protocols
- Participants must adhere to all health and safety guidelines, including any specific local regulations or COVID-19 protocols.
- Supervisors must report any injuries, health issues, or emergencies to IMC staff or event medical personnel immediately.
7. Excursions and Additional Tours
- Participants must follow instructions provided by trip coordinators during excursions.
- Punctuality is mandatory for all scheduled trips. Participants should remain with their group and supervisors at all times.
- Additional tours outside the official IMC Global Round program may be arranged through IMC’s travel partner, TAM Tour Agency.
8. Awards Ceremony Seating
- Priority for seating at the Awards Ceremony is given to Global Round participants and invited guests.
- Parents and visitors may attend based on seat availability, which will be determined closer to the ceremony date.
9. Prohibited Items and Behavior
- Alcohol, smoking, and illegal substances are strictly forbidden for all participants and visitors.
- Any electronic devices not authorized by IMC are prohibited during exam sessions.
10. Departure and Farewell
- Participants and supervisors must vacate accommodations and event spaces in an orderly manner, following all check-out procedures.
Non-Compliance
Non-compliance with the Code of Conduct or Terms and Conditions may result in disciplinary action, including exclusion from the event or disqualification from the competition. IMC reserves the right to enforce these rules to ensure a positive and secure environment for everyone.
