01What is the Online International Math Challenge (IMC)?
The Online International Math Challenge (IMC) is widely regarded as a prominent global contest centered around mathematics, catering to students across all academic levels and age groups worldwide.
02When is the Online International Math Challenge (IMC)?
The IMC XVI Grand Online Round will be active for 48 hours on 15–16 January 2027, starting on 15 January 2027 at 08:00 AM Thailand time (UTC+7). Participants can start their exam at any time within these 48 hours.
03What time is it in my country?
The exam starts on 15 January 2027 at 08:00 AM Thailand time (UTC+7). Please use a time converter at www.thetimezoneconverter.com to check your local time.
04Who is eligible to participate in the Online Int’l Math Challenge?
Students aged 6–17 (Grades 1–12) from all types of schools around the globe can join under their relevant age and category.
05How to register?
Go to register.mathchallenge.in.th and follow the instructions. You can register as a participant or as a mentor and then register your students.
06What is the language of the questions?
All questions are available in 4 languages: English, Thai, Chinese, and Russian.
07Which topics are covered in the Online Int’l Math Challenge?
Topics depend on your category. Please check the Exam Topics page for the full list of subject areas and concepts for each category.
08How will the exam be conducted?
The exam is held online. Participants will need a webcam to participate in the competition. During the exam time the video will be recorded for the sake of security and integrity of the exam.
09What if the internet connection is lost during the competition?
Please promptly reach out to the IMC team via email or WhatsApp to notify them of your current situation.
10Whom and how to contact if you encounter any issue during the exam?
There will be online support, or you can email register@mathchallenge.in.th. Your questions will be answered in a timely manner.

12What devices are the most suitable for having the test?
Participants can take the exam on a desktop computer, laptop, or tablet. The smallest size for the screen is 8.3 inches.
13Which browser is the most suitable for having the test?

14What if my device is disconnected from the internet?
If the device is disconnected from the system, the exam timer will keep running. Students can rejoin the exam, but the system will flag the incident as suspicious. The IMC team will then review all available data from the exam system to investigate. If any evidence of cheating is found, the student’s results will be invalidated.
15How can I pay the exam fee?
Registration and payment are only online via register.mathchallenge.in.th. The registration fee is 29 USD for international participants and 850 THB for Thai participants.
16What is a tryout exam?
The IMC Trial Exam lets students experience authentic International Math Challenge questions before the official competition. It helps participants familiarize themselves with the exam format, assess their mathematical skills, and build confidence for the Grand Online Round. Students scoring 7 points or higher receive an online downloadable certificate.
17How do we ensure the security of exams?
Participants are monitored through their webcam from the beginning to the end of the exam, and the video is recorded. Only the IMC exam browser tab may be open, logging in on multiple devices at the same time is not allowed, and after the exam the IMC Evaluation Team reviews every participant’s performance, timing and adherence to the exam rules.

Students who qualify through the Online Round or are nominated by schools are eligible to participate in the Global Round.
02Where will the IMC Global Round take place?
The IMC Global Round will take place in Bangkok, Thailand.
03Do I need to qualify in the Online Round to attend?

04What is the format of the Global Round?
The Global Round is a paper-based exam, taken onsite.
05Is there a registration fee for the Global Round?
Yes, there is a registration fee for the Global Round. The fee will be announced soon.
06Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. All participants of the Global Round receive a certificate.
07Can parents or teachers accompany students?
Yes. Students attending the Global Round need to be accompanied by a parent or teacher.
08What prizes are given in the Global Round?
The first-place winner in each category receives a MacBook Neo + Touch ID (6x), second place a MacBook Neo (6x), and third place an Apple iPad 10 (6x). All placements receive an official IMC certificate and medal in addition to the listed gift.
